In her new show, Lulu Hughes returns to her first love: rock and blues. Accompanied by five musicians, the singer-songwriter performs songs from her most recent album, ‘Built Near The Water’, her most personal project to date. At the height of her art, she also punctuates her repertoire with references to those who have inspired her, from Janis Joplin and Aretha Franklin to the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. A performance that promises to be both high-energy and emotionally charged. Renowned for her powerful voice and charisma on stage, Lulu Hughes has released four albums in the course of her career, including her most recent, ‘Built Near The Water’. Released in autumn 2022, the opus draws on the multiples influences and musical roots that have marked her career. A sought-after vocalist, she has accompanied many performers including Barry White, Dan Bigras, Roch Voisine and Too Many Cooks. For several years, she was soloist with the Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir. A versatile artist, Lulu played the role of Marie-Jeanne in the rock opera Starmania, as well as starring in the feature films La rage de l’ange, directed by Dan Bigras, and Suzie, directed by Micheline Lanctôt.
